Whether you’re fascinated by crime scenes or aspire to work at the International Court of Justice, there are study options at Flinders University for you.
The best way to dive into everything on offer is to go to Open Days, where experts from across the university will share what they know with future students just like you. Plus, there’ll be plenty of fun activities (and possibly prizes) along the way, and it’s the perfect excuse to check out our gorgeous, nature-filled campus at Bedford Park. So, what are you waiting for?
Read on for your ideal Open Days itinerary relating to Law and Criminology.
If you want to change the world and fight for justice, there’s a major chance that you’ve considered a future career in law. The best place to start at Open Days is our Law information session, where you’ll learn how to begin your professional career with one of the most innovative and sought-after law programs in the country. Next, grab a coffee at Local Brew – the cafe where most law students get their caffeine hit – then take a peek at the comfortable Law Students’ Association digs in the courtyard. Round out your day with a visit to the Moot Court, where you can imagine your future self engaging in heated debate. Objection!
Are you obsessed with true crime podcasts? If so, make sure not to miss our Criminology information session, where you can learn how to prevent crime and social justice through specialisations including forensic or psychological science, law, international relations or cybersecurity.
While you’re on campus, pick up your lucky key at the session and use it to unlock the padlock at our stand in the Hub – you could win one of four Bluetooth speakers – then head to the upper level of the law courtyard to see the space Flinders University Criminology Association calls home (just follow the crime scene tape). Cap off your day by analysing blood splatter, in an activity where you’ll learn about how the patterns can be analysed from a forensic perspective.
A solid understanding of law is one of the best assets you could have if you’re looking at a future career in the realm of policy. At our Law information session, our experts will explain how practical legal training, a future-focused curriculum and a legal team committed to your future are at your fingertips at Flinders. Follow this up with our Explore the Future of Law session, where you can learn how you can work on some of the biggest issues facing the world we live in, then get excited in the information session about our new City Campus, which is opening in the heart of the city on North Terrace in 2024. Your future classroom could be right next to Parliament.
There are countless career opportunities in Corrections, including roles on the frontline and those behind the scenes. With such a diverse range of careers in the sector, one of the best ways to learn more is by studying Criminology. During Open Days, come to our Criminology information session, where you’ll learn how you can make a difference in preventing crime and driving social justice. Then, head to our information session about our new City Campus – the shiny new building will be opening in Festival Plaza on North Terrace in 2024, and Criminology students will have the opportunity to take classes there. Finally, find out about the strong relationship between social change and law at our Explore the Future of Law session.
Do you care about the outcomes of young people? If so, there are two Open Days sessions you can’t miss: our Criminology information session, and Explore the Future of Law. Social justice and impact underpins both our Law and Criminology degrees, so they could both be great options for you. Listen in to our experts and bring your questions to find out which is the perfect fit for you. Don’t forget to pick up your lucky key at the Criminology session and use it to unlock the padlock at our stand in the Hub – you might take home a prize.
These are just some of the more than 200 sessions, activities and tours available at Flinders Open Days. Register now and use the online planner to plan your ideal open day experience!
