The intensive care course equips paramedics with the knowledge required to support intensive care practice. Graduates from this course will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and judgement to successfully perform the role of Intensive Care Paramedic (or equivalent) within an Australasian ambulance service.
The Graduate Diploma in Intensive Care Paramedicine is a 36-unit course consisting of lifespan-inclusive studies. The course aims to:
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Paramedicine (or equivalent), or possess a formal vocational ambulance qualification which permits authority to practice at a paramedic level (i.e. diploma or higher); and have a minimum of two years full-time equivalent practice at a paramedic level within the last six years; and are currently employed by an Australian ambulance service, and are a registered paramedic.
There is a significant clinical placement component as part of this program which students are required to undertake in South Australia at a range of placement providers. Interstate applicants must source their own placement providers of equivalence in conjunction with the WIL team and Course Coordinator if unable to attend opportunities in South Australia.
