The Diploma in Sports Management (Cricket) opens doors to a range of exciting careers in organisations including community sports programs, governing bodies, clubs, venues and events.
Study key topics designed to introduce you to the business of sport, community engagement, sports marketing and event management and more.
Gain an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and teamwork essential for managing sports-oriented businesses, with a special focus on the functioning of a cricket association.
Learn the fundamental concepts of finance, accounting, and strategic management. Examine the purpose of financial information, as well as the evaluation and interpretation of financial statements. Consider essential concepts in strategic management within the context of a cricket association.
This topic will cover event types and role in club and community contexts. It will explore event design and management, including the varying roles and relationships of stakeholders in the organisation of events.
Learn how to interpret, summarise and report data in the sports context. Design and present reports for the cricket association.
Discuss the key marketing concepts and how they are applied within cricket and community contexts. Also, explore key aspects of fan and community engagement and development in the sports context, including participation, diversity, inclusion, and respect.
Learn the relationship between management and leadership principles and theory with application to authentic business scenarios in the context of a cricket association. You will also explore the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving organisational goals.
Undertake 100 hours of work integrated learning with the South Australian Cricket Association in a cricket related context including at Adelaide Oval, gaining practical work ready skills including event day activities and sports management principles from a Cricket perspective.
Whether you’re completing Year 12 or have been out of school for a while, there are a variety of pathways for the Diploma in Sports Management (Cricket).

If you’ve finished Year 12 (and do not have more than 2 years of higher education study), or are currently studying Year 12 and complete the SACE/IB (or interstate equivalent) you are eligible to compete for uni entry via your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
You could also be eligible for guaranteed entry, and adjustment factors to boost your ATAR.
The University will also consider applicants who have SACE completion.

We may consider your school’s recommendation about your academic performance as part of your admission into Flinders.
Elite athlete pathway
Our dedicated Elite Athletes Admissions Scheme provides a pathway to university study for elite sportspeople. If you've officially represented your school or state at a national level competition, we'll consider your school's recommendation about your academic potential when you apply.
Research Project B pathway
If you have strong results in the Research Project B subject you will be considered for entry into Flinders on the basis of your Year 12 results and Research Project B performance.
Year 12 grades admission pathway
By using three of your best Year 12 grades, you can be considered for entry
If you have completed the equivalent of at least one semester (full-time) but no more than the equivalent of two years (full-time) of a higher education course you may be considered for entry to most courses on the basis of your higher education results or any other qualification which meets the University’s admission requirements (such as your Year 12 ATAR or STAT score).
If you have attempted a total of more than two years of equivalent full-time higher education study, you will only be considered on the basis of your GPA in those studies.
If you have TAFE/VET qualifications (Cert III or higher) you are eligible to apply.
If you have completed a University Foundation Studies program or sat the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) you can use these as a pathway to this program.
The Indigenous Admissions Scheme (IAS) provides an alternative entry pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into Flinders University.
The IAS provides the opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply for entry into the Diploma.
You can request consideration for entry via this pathway when you apply.
