If you have an Australian rural background, come from the Northern Territory or are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent, you may be eligible to access a sub-quota of reserved places in many Flinders health courses, significantly increasing your opportunities for entry into a number of our limited intake courses.
Applicants must have lived in non-metropolitan areas of Australia (Remoteness Classifications RA2 to RA5) for at least 5 consecutive years, or 10 years cumulatively, from birth (i.e. during any period of their life) to be eligible for the Rural and remote sub-quota.

An annual sub quota is available for applicants from the NT. To be considered for the NT sub quota applicants must apply to SATAC in the normal way. Applicants who gain entry in this degree through the sub quota will be required to reside in the Northern Territory for their final year clinical placements. They will be registered with the Flinders NT University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) as a student eligible for support aligned with priority rural background student funding. Further information will be available on enrolment.
Applicants must meet one or more of the following criteria to be eligible for consideration for a sub quota place: must have their principal place of residence in the NT; or must have been resident in the NT for a minimum period of two years, within the last five years; or must be a recent graduate (within the last five years) or a current student of Charles Darwin University.
Applicants must also, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC which confirms that they meet the criteria for the NT sub quota.
Applicants are advised that should they receive an offer for a place in the degree through the NT sub quota it will be conditional on providing a Statutory Declaration confirming eligibility if this has not already been provided to SATAC.

To be eligible an applicant must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in accordance with the Commonwealth definition which requires that the applicant:
i. be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
ii. identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and
iii. be accepted as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which they live or have lived.
To confirm eligibility applicants are required to provide a document signed under Common Seal from an incorporated Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisation in the community from which the applicant originates or is recognised, confirming that the applicant is recognised by that community.
Where applicants are unable to provide a document signed under Common Seal they may complete a Statutory Declaration.

The Bachelor of Paramedicine (Northern Territory) is available for applicants from remote and outer regional areas. To be considered for the remote and outer regional sub-quota applicants must apply to SATAC in the normal way.
Applicants must also, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC which confirms that they have lived in remote or outer regional areas of Australia (Remoteness Classifications RA3 to RA5) for at least two years out of the past six years, or a total of five years since starting primary school in a remote and/or outer regional areas (RA -3 – RA5). This is assessed based on an applicant’s primary residential address.
The Bachelor of Paramedicine (Regional External Program) is available for applicants from remote and outer regional areas. To be considered for the remote and outer regional sub-quota applicants must apply to SATAC in the normal way.
Applicants must also, within 10 working days after submitting the SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC which confirms that they currently reside in remote or outer regional areas of Australia (Remoteness Classifications RA3 to RA5). In addition, the Statutory Declaration must confirm that applicants have lived in remote or outer regional areas of Australia (Remoteness Classifications RA3 to RA5) for at least two years out of the past six years or a total of five years since starting primary school in a remote and or outer regional areas (RA 3 - RA 5). This is assessed based on an applicant’s primary residential address.

Applications for all courses offering these sub-quotas (excluding the Doctor of Medicine*) are made through the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).
Applicants must, within 10 working days after submitting their SATAC application, submit a Statutory Declaration to SATAC confirming they meet the eligibility criteria listed above.
* Doctor of Medicine applications - Doctor of Medicine (MD) applications must be submitted via the Flinders University online application portal via the MD website. Applicants are required to download and read the Doctor of Medicine Application Guide prior to applying.
