Designed in partnership with the APS Academy, our postgraduate Microcredential in Pacific Engagement equips APS employees with essential cultural capabilities and a deep understanding of Pacific culture, society, and economy. This program focuses on developing a comprehensive cultural capability toolkit, enabling you to make informed decisions and engage effectively across the sector.
By enhancing your skills, you’ll foster stronger partnerships with Pacific communities and contribute to impactful collaboration in the region. This university-accredited Microcredential also provides articulation pathways into degree programs, allowing you to expand your education while making a meaningful difference.

Structure and Assessment
Structure
Delivered over 14 weeks, the program includes a blend of learning formats comprising online self-paced, virtual and a 2-day in-person component in Canberra.
Assessment
Course assessment is designed to help you apply the skills and knowledge gained throughout the program to your professional context. Assessment includes: Participation, Quizzes, Case Study Brief and an Engagement Plan.
Credit
Upon successful completion of the assessment tasks, participants will be awarded a Microcredential. Upon application, this can be articulated into one subject of credit in the Flinders University suite of postgraduate Public Policy and Public Administration programs.
Course cancellation & refunds
Courses are subject to sufficient registrations. Flinders University reserves the right to cancel a course. If a course is cancelled, you will have the opportunity to transfer your registration or be issued a full refund. If a registrant cancels within 14 calendar days of course commencement, a 50% registration fee will apply.
Facilitator
Jessica is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the College of Business, Government and Law. Jessica is an expert in international conflict and provides regular analysis for national and international media outlets on global conflicts. Jessica's research interests include conflict, threat perceptions, and post-conflict institution-building with a focus on the Middle East as well as Russia / Ukraine.
Jessica also focuses on executive training with an emphasis on cultural capability and intercultural leadership. Jessica engages in innovative curriculum design at the tertiary level, with a particular interest in participatory educational methods to develop graduates' professional and interpersonal competencies including cultural capability, leadership, conflict management and negotiation skills.
