Interested in having your say on murder sentencing?
Our survey is open to anyone who is:
· A South Australian resident
· Aged 18 years or over
If you choose to take part, you’ll be asked some basic demographic questions so that our research team can get a snapshot of the people who participate. We’ll also be asking your views on murder and how it is dealt with by the South Australian criminal justice system – specifically, the courts. You’ll be given a few scenarios, based on real life murder cases, and asked your opinion on appropriate sentencing.
Your participation is completely voluntary and anonymous. You do not have to give your name, phone number or other identifying information if you do not want to. We also do not collect IP addresses.
In recognition of your time and participation, you will be given the option to enter a prize draw for 1 of 13 $100 EFTPOS gift cards.
Do you feel like you have more to say on murder sentencing arrangements in South Australia?
We are inviting survey completers to join us for small group discussions on murder sentencing. These groups will run with a maximum of ten other people and be facilitated by a member of the research team on Flinders University campuses (Flinders' new city campus and Bedford Park). We expect sessions to take approximately 90 minutes.
Why focus groups? Whilst surveys provide a snapshot of public opinion on certain topics, focus groups deepen our understanding of why people may hold the views that they do. It gives our research team the ability to understand the complexities of your opinions that you may not be able to convey through an online questionnaire. In essence, your survey answers will allow us to identify the topics that matter to you most, and focus groups will tell us about why they matter to you.
In recognition of their time and participation, focus group completers will receive a $50 EFTPOS gift card.
If you are interested in signing up for focus groups, you will receive an invite at the end of the survey. You can also contact our team if you have any queries about how to sign up.
