What you will study

First year A typical first year may include:	topics in understanding purposes of education and the inclusion of all students in educational settings topics contributing to specialist teaching area/s topics in English curriculum areas preparation for professional experience placements in primary school settings.
Second year A typical second year may include:	topics in how learners develop, mathematics curriculum studies, HASS and teaching Indigenous Australian students topics contributing to specialist teaching area/s 15 days of professional experience placements in primary school settings.
Third year A typical third year may include:	topics in understanding assessment, relationships for learning and differentiation for diverse learners curriculum studies for arts, health and physical education, numeracy and ICT, and science, design and technology 25 days of professional experience placements in primary school and community settings.
Fourth year A typical fourth year may include:	two topics to finalise the STEM specialist teaching area topics to contribute to other specialist teaching area/s a capstone topic reflecting on the role of the professional educator two elective topics 40 days of professional experience placements in primary school settings.

The degree provides you with practical experience that prepares you for the workforce.

Undertake extensive professional experience placements (minimum 80 days) in a variety of primary school settings.
Develop vital practical skills such as relationship building, educational planning, technology use and community innovation.
Learn to engage in transformational, innovative and creative teaching practices.
Develop considered, relational skills for working with children, their families, community members and professional colleagues.

A Working with Children Check, and Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care Certificate must be completed before undertaking a placement in your first semester.
