Why study Nursing (Re-entry) at Flinders
Explore an exciting and diverse career in nursing and play an important role in health promotion, maintenance and education, as well as patient care and the restoration of health.
This degree is currently undergoing reassessment with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council. Graduates of this degree are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as registered nurses.
The program prepares you to develop nursing skills, relate all aspects of body function with nursing practice, and continue gaining clinical experience in various health care settings. Topics cover areas such as the nursing profession and independent learning, indigenous health and cultural safety, pathophysiology and pharmacology, managing clients, and transition to professional practice.
Professional experience placements prepare you for the workplace, both simulated in state-of-the-art laboratories and in clinical venues in rural and metropolitan South Australia.
In order to complete the degree, you will need to fulfil the following preclinical placement requirements to undertake compulsory clinical placements:
If you are unable to meet these requirements*, you will not be able to undertake your professional experience placement.
*Requirements are subject to change.
Applicants must not be currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia but must have been employed as a registered nurse and been registered as a general nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in the past. This degree is for applicants for whom a period of non-registration prevents them from re-registering as a general nurse.
The Inherent Course Requirements statement is designed to help prospective students make informed decisions about whether they will be in a position to complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Nursing and/or the Bachelor of Midwifery.
