Overview
The Master of International Relations provides a comprehensive foundation to understand the dynamics that shape contemporary international relations, and critically analyse the major and political landscapes and security trends unfolding both regionally, (including Asia- Pacific) and globally.
The program is designed for forward-thinking professionals aiming to develop an advanced set of knowledge and the core skills required to advance careers for managers and analysts working in foreign affairs, international trade, defence, national and international security and more. You will graduate with outstanding critical skills, public speaking skills, the ability to solve numerous challenges and understand the relationship between theory and practice.

What you will study
This interdisciplinary degree explores global challenges such as contemporary conflict zones, governance in a global world, international security, human rights, and policy analysis. You will develop advanced research skills and learn to apply diverse research methods to your area of interest.
This flexible program allows you to tailor your studies to align with your career goals. Choose from a range of electives in public policy, public administration, and international law, or explore topics from other disciplines such as Global Feminist Activism or Adapting to Climate Change. You also have the option to pursue a minor in Business Administration, Public Sector Leadership, or Social Impact, further enhancing your expertise. Additionally, you can select two electives from anywhere across the university, giving you even more opportunities to shape your learning experience.
Masters students have the opportunity to undertake an internship. A Flinders’ internship helps you graduate work-ready and provides experience directly related to a specialist area in your degree.

The Master of International Relations degree is for managers and analysts working in foreign affairs, defence, international and national security, and combines theory and practical analysis to examine global issues like war, poverty, security, economics, trade and diplomacy.
The Master of Public Policy enables policy analysts and managers to become an expert on the fundamentals of public policy making, developing policy from start to finish, including analysing the problem, interpreting data, and undertaking professional research.
The Master of Public Administration degree is for people who manage people, projects and resources in a wide variety of organisations including government departments, not-for-profits, international non-governmental organisations, and social enterprises. The course also provides students with the skills to undertake professional research.

Graduate Diploma
Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification, or a Graduate Certificate in International Relations with a GPA of 4.5.
Masters
Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification, or a Graduate Certificate in International Relations with a GPA of 4.5, or a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy with a GPA of 4.5, or a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration with a GPA of 4.5.
