The Master of Professional Psychology comprises a fifth-year qualification in Psychology training. It provides you with the theoretical knowledge, research skills development, and practical skills required to prepare you for professional practice in a wide variety of setting and with diverse populations.
The degree forms part of a 5+1 pathway to general psychology registration. After completion of the degree, you will be required to undertake a one-year internship via the Psychology Board of Australia before being eligible for general registration as a psychologist.

Graduates are eligible to undertake a one-year internship via the Psychology Board of Australia. Following the successful completion of a one-year internship, graduates will be eligible to apply for general registration as a psychologist and be qualified to work in a range of mental health, forensic, education and training and corporate settings. People with existing careers in human services such as nursing, teaching, the public service, social and human resources undertake this course to better understand human behaviour and to add depth to their knowledge and work skills.

The Master of Professional Psychology consists of 36 units.
You must complete 27 units of coursework and 9 units (i.e., 300 hours) of supervised practicum.
Coursework covers areas such as foundations of psychological practice, assessment across the lifespan, evidence based interventions, and applied research for practitioners.

Postgraduate Psychology at Flinders
Applicants must normally have completed an APAC accredited fourth year of study in the field of Psychology conferred within 10 years of the commencement of the course. Candidates will be chosen based on interview, clinically relevant volunteer and paid work experience, 2nd and 3rd year Psychology topics sequence GPA, Honours year mark, referee reports and publications/grants.
Applicants will be shortlisted for interview based on their Academic record, relevant clinical skills and experience and referee reports. Selection for a place in the course will be based on interview performance and the overall application.
On completion of the course, graduates will be required to complete an approved one year internship of supervised practice to be eligible for general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Applicants must normally hold an approved honours degree or fourth-year equivalent qualification of first- or upper-second-class standard in psychology from a recognised tertiary institution.
