TRANSFER TO FLINDERS
Your study so far shouldn't go to waste.
Transfer to Flinders and keep your momentum. If you’ve already started university, you can bring your completed study with you and apply it towards a degree that aligns with your goals. With flexible pathways and support at every step, we’ll help you find a clear path forward.
If you have completed at least one semester of full-time equivalent study at university, you may be able to transfer to study at Flinders using your Grade Point Average (GPA). Read on to find out how we assess your application based on how much you've studied.
If excluded from a course at Flinders or another university, you generally can't apply for the same discipline.
Our team can have a chat with you about your situation in a free, no-obligation call.
Choose your situation to get to the right application process.
Apply via SATAC.
You'll need:
Use Flinders' internal transfer process - no SATAC needed. Faster and simpler. Available for most courses. If your course isn't listed, apply via SATAC.
Here's the full process, plain and simple.
Use the eligibility section above to confirm you qualify or contact us with any questions.
Browse our course finder or ask our team for recommendations based on your previous study area.
Apply via SATAC (external students) or internal transfer (current Flinders students). Have your documents ready before you start - the form is quick to fill out but gathering documents takes time.
GPA note: SATAC calculates your GPA from completed results only - in-progress or summer school units are not included. Your current semester's grades won't be part of the calculation.
Don't forget to withdraw from your current institution. If you've applied for HECS-HELP there and don't withdraw before their census date, you'll incur a debt for that semester - even if you've already started at Flinders. Check your current institution's census date as soon as you accept your Flinders offer.
Semester 1 applications close November. Mid-year course intake closes earlier.
Once accepted, submit a credit transfer application. Subjects you've already passed may be recognised - saving you time and reducing your fees.
A student advisor will help you with enrolment and connecting with your new college. You're not on your own: we'll guide you through every step.
Your previous study could count more than you think.
Credit transfer means you may be able to skip topics you've already passed - reducing your degree length and your fees. This is part of the transfer process, not a separate task.
Over the years, many questions have been asked by students before. For the quickest answers view our faqs or browse the full list @ Ask Flinders.
You've arrived at the right place! Please find the step-by-step process above.
A decision can take anywhere between 3-5 business days to 14+ business days. It depends on the time of year, which course you've chosen to study, and whether we've received all required documents for the decision. We'd love to have a chat with you to discuss your personal circumstances.
Absolutely! You can apply to transfer for mid-year intake if the course you wish to study offers mid-year entry. However, please note that the application window for courses can be different, with some requiring applications to be submitted prior to semester 1 ending.
You need to complete at least one semester of full-time equivalent study.
Have a chat with us. If your GPA isn't strong enough to transfer to your desired course, we might recommend either staying in your current degree to try and increase your GPA, or to commence a new course with lower GPA requirements (to generate a new GPA). It really depends on your personal circumstances, and what your current GPA is looking like.
Yes, you will keep your HECS-HELP history even if you don’t complete your original course.
This depends on your personal circumstances, including which course you're applying for.
If you're transferring from a different university, we'll need an official transcript with details about the study you have completed at that university, and what grades you received.
If you're transferring internally from one Flinders course to another, we'll already have access to your grades - you'll just need to declare this in your application. Some courses may also have additional requirements for entry (portfolio, topic pre-requisites, English language proficiency).
No, some courses can only be applied for via SATAC. Find out more about internal transfers.
