With five campuses and 100 staff on the ground we have been able to establish key partnerships and support local communities through various initiatives.
For nearly three decades, Flinders University has been embedded in the NT community, where we have been a leader in recognising the importance of holistic approaches to improving health, recognising the importance of traditional knowledge and culture as well as the social determinants of health, alongside medical workforce development.
We have dedicated Outreach and Engagement staff who visit schools, discuss study options and career pathways and further engage students through workshops and tailored activities, contact us to see how we can support your school.
Flinders medical and paramedical students regularly visit local schools to talk about their study experience, organise fundraisers for important causes and promote health awareness in the community at local events.
With campuses across Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs and Nhulunbuy we host events to connect local stakeholders, support health workforce and celebrate achievements of unsung community heroes.
We work closely with industry partners and organise unique events such as Remote Health Experience.
We partner with Territory iconic festivals including Garma and Barunga, and sponsor professional awards such as Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
In 2022, Flinders University celebrated 25 years in the NT and 10 years of the Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP).
The establishment of the NT Clinical School, a precursor of NTMP, formalised a closer relationship along the Australian Central Corridor, building on existing linkages in health and education between South Australia and the Northern Territory.
