Bachelor of Performance (Directing)

First year

A typical first year may include:

• Be introduced to the craft of bringing a script to life on stage, including performance and production skills.
• Develop your critical understanding through study of the history of drama, by reading and workshopping significant scripts.
• Engage in core techniques in acting, voice and movement to develop embodied knowledge about directing actors for stage and screen.

Second year

A typical second year may include:

• Engage in intensive classes in a bespoke learning environment, exploring rehearsal craft and interpretation.
• Develop your critical understanding of the theories, movements and innovators in contemporary performance practice.
• Direct several productions and performance projects in collaboration with actors and theatre-makers.

Third year

A typical third year may include:

• Continue to develop your specialist skills in directing.
• Expand your understanding of creative practice as a method for critical thinking and research.
• Engage with performers and creatives across stage and screen.

Optional Honours year

Subject to admission requirements:

• Refine your skills with exciting opportunities for industry engagement.
• Working as an ensemble with actors and theatre-makers, create a live and digital portfolio of industry standard performance work.
• Deepen your knowledge and prepare for the possibility of post-graduate study through the creation of a practice-based artefact and exegesis.
